INTRODUCING........"The Year of the Pig"

Our first design will be the first "Lunar Coin" released by SBSS. What an appropriate design for the times we live in. Created by the master artist Alex Robledo ( you can check out his designs at

This was the first concept sketch he created.

After a few tweaks to the design here is the final art from Alex.

The Story...

The "Year of the Pig" round is based on the ancient Chinese Lunar calendar. The design was inspired by the current financial crisis the worlds economies are facing.

In 2014 , the media reported, the "richest 1 percent in the United States now own more additional income than the bottom 90 percent".The gap between the top 10% and the middle class is over 1,000%; that increases another 1,000% for the top 1%. The average employee "needs to work more than a month to earn what the CEO earns in one hour.

In a 2017 report by Oxfam found..."Eight men own the same wealth as the 3.6 billion people who make up the poorest half of humanity".

New estimates show that just eight men own the same wealth as the poorest half of the world. As growth benefits the richest, the rest of society – especially the poorest – suffers. The very design of our economies and the principles of our economics have taken us to this extreme, unsustainable and unjust point.

"An economy for the 99 percent’, shows that the gap between rich and poor is far greater than had been feared. It details how big business and the super-rich are fuelling the inequality crisis by dodging taxes, driving down wages and using their power to influence politics. Billionaires around the world, who have almost doubled in number since the 2008 global financial crisis, saw their combined fortunes grow by $2.5bn a day, while the 3.8 billion people at the bottom of the scale saw their wealth decline by 11 percent in 2018."

"It is obscene for so much wealth to be held in the hands of so few when 1 in 10 people survive on less than $2 a day. Inequality is trapping hundreds of millions in poverty; it is fracturing our societies and undermining democracy."

"Across the world, people are being left behind. Their wages are stagnating yet corporate bosses take home million dollar bonuses; their health and education services are cut while corporations and the super-rich dodge their taxes; their voices are ignored as governments sing to the tune of big business and a wealthy elite."

"Seven out of 10 people live in a country that has seen a rise in inequality in the last 30 years. Between 1988 and 2011 the incomes of the poorest 10 percent increased by just $65 per person, while the incomes of the richest 1 percent grew by $11,800 per person – 182 times as much."

Oxfam’s report shows how our broken economies are funneling wealth to a rich elite at the expense of the poorest in society, the majority of whom are women. The richest are accumulating wealth at such an astonishing rate that the world could see its first trillionaire in just 25 years. To put this figure in perspective – you would need to spend $1 million every day for 2738 years to spend $1 trillion.

Women, who are often employed in low pay sectors, face high levels of discrimination in the work place, and who take on a disproportionate amount of unpaid care work often find themselves at the bottom of the pile. On current trends it will take 170 years for women to be paid the same as men.

Public anger with inequality is already creating political shockwaves across the globe. Inequality has been cited as a significant factor in the election of Donald Trump in the US, the election of President Duterte in the Philippines, and Brexit in the UK.

An Economy for the 99 percent’ also reveals how big business and the super-rich are fueling the inequality crisis. It shows how, in order to maximize returns to their wealthy shareholders, big corporations are dodging taxes, driving down wages for their workers and the prices paid to producers, and investing less in their business.

It’s time to build a human economy that benefits everyone, not just the privileged few.

Our economy must stop excessively rewarding those at the top and start working for all people. Accountable and visionary governments, businesses that work in the interests of workers and producers, a valued environment, women’s rights and a strong system of fair taxation, are central to this more human economy.

Dies are cut and first samples are made. Looks great!!

We are very happy with how the samples look and have gone into full production. We have decided to release this in an antique finish first. If there is enough interest we will be releasing a proof version at a later time.

The Story So Far......

SBSS struck a chord with collectors around the world. Its messages and coin designs although focused primarily on the US market resonated with people globally. It offered people a chance to own silver and gold rounds that were not supporting government mints and held a special meaning to them.

Unfortunately SBSS went through tumultuous times as the original partners had a falling out. Through protracted disagreements and legal challenges the company was left to slide into insignificance. This left a lot of people hurt both financially and emotionally. Even though the original partners went on to establish other companies there was never anything in the market like the original Silver Bullet Silver Shield.

Our Story

The two of us started out as collectors of silver coins and rounds and SBSS designs were always our favorites. We believed in the original message and direction of this company and like a lot of loyal customers, we waited on the sidelines hoping that the company could one day relaunch. This never really happened so we undertook that challenge for ourselves. We put our life savings together and bought what was left of the company. Our belief is we can make this work and we are going to be working hard to challenge the established companies with creative designs and stories. We want to run SBSS very differently from other companies and are looking to work hand in hand with our customers. Whether that be what packaging customers want, designing our new logo or to what artwork to use on the next project, we will be looking for feedback from our community to steer the direction of the company.

Our Promise

We will continue to release designs that have a true message and are designed by some of the best artists in the world. Too often companies have released what they want with no thought for what the customer wants. Even when businesses have engaged the public in forums and have had suggestions given by the public they either simply ignore them or rudely reply with "I know better than you!"We will listen to our customers and encourage their participation and feedback on the coin designs and the direction of the business. We want to rebuild the community SBSS once had and continue to grow it even larger. Our most important asset is our customers and our job is to make sure they are happy with our products and the service they receive.

We won't be spending huge sums on fancy websites or marketing campaigns as we want to produce the best quality designs at the lowest price we can afford to. While we won’t be able to compete in price with the larger bullion companies and government mints, we will have better designs and quality. As demand grows and we can turnover more stock we hope to be able to release bullion lines that will be able to compete with the “big boys”. We won’t be as slick and polished as bigger companies with their bigger budgets but we will always be honest to our customers.
